Hello:
I am trying to upgrade the firmware of an SMC8013 modem. I have the cmts setup and making sure that the modem ranges as usual. I can set the docsDevSwServer, docsDevFilename, the docsDecAdminStatus is 'allowProvisioningUpgrade' and docsDevSwOperStatus is 'other'. When I try, nothing seems to happen and I do not see any activity on the TFTP for the filename. Any help from anyone will be greatly appreciated.

I`m thinking about the advantages and disadvantages of working several CMTS in routing and bridge mode.
Currently I have 5 Arris C3 CMTS working in bridge mode, all in one VLAN.
Of course CPE traffic separated from CM traffic. Total amount of CPE (and CM accordingle) is nearly 2100. And this all in one VLAN. Such a large broadcast domain confuse me concerning to design and security issues.
Does any body have experience in administering such an environment with large amount of hosts in one VLAN?

I have ubr7114, internet works fine but when something is downloading voIP is getting very bad, how can i make priority for voIP on ubr or in cfg modem file?

Does anybody knows how can I assign a CPE behind CM to a specific VLAN through Cable Modem config-file?

I did this through CLI on CMTS (Juniper G1 CMTS) with this command cable vpn 000F.21CB.6DDF 601, and then all CPEs behind the modem with MAC address 000F.21CB.6DDF are tagged with VLAN ID 601.
I saw on a document that it's a special Vendor Specific ID that must be written in config-file for VLAN ID (i'm usign Webstar DPC2100 CMs).

Does anybody knows where can I buy a Provisioning Software that is not such professional and expensive but simple? Any software that include DHCP, TFTP , ToD, and a simple web interface.

I have problem upgrading firmware on my arris CM450B.
I added flollowing lines in to modem config:

SwUpgradeFilename "CM050012_062404_EURO.img";
SwUpgradeServer 10.0.0.1;

but he modem never requests this file from tftp server.

Am I missing something?

Trying to get a lab setup going with a DOCSIS 2.0 CMTS. Can anyone suggest a tool which can be used to "co-sign" a firmware load. That is, I have a signed firmware image from the CM manufacturer. I would like to co-sign it with a CoSigner CVC so I can check download with a cosigned image.

Any suggestions for tools to do the co-signing? I'm especially interested in free/cheap implementations!

My current configuration of docsis server is dynamic address assignment. Addresses are dynamically assigned and they are valid for one day. How to force static ip address assignment for CPE one certain cable modem.

So, I want that CPE on modem with ip address 10.0.1.100 allways gets same ip address specified somewhere in database.

Is it possible to define access-list in modem config that would restrict traffic to certain ip addresses and ports.

Example: cable customer has virus or worm and I set him config that he can only use www for virus/widows updates.

If not, what is the best way to achieve this.
