I'm just wondering whether anyone ever try to log cable modem message logging with "cable event priority alert" option ?
and there is a different value with that and don't exactly know what to set..
from the cisco they show the example like below :

cable event priority emergency 0x70
cable event priority alert 0x70
cable event syslog-server 122.3x.xxx.xx

just want to get some advice on the config above.

P.S Also want to know whether other company products support that option as well.

We provide internet and cable for a handful of apartment complexes ranging between 100 and 500 tenants per complex. Internet subscribers on these sites range between 20 and 200 (with possible future growth to around 400). Currently we are using C9Networks CMTS's, which have the CMTS, upconverter and all related servers (DHCP, tftp, tod) in a single box. We are in the process of expanding our internet offerings at the larger properties and are looking for a more robust, better scalable solution.

I need setting up CMTS BSR 2000. I read manual for this CMTS and test setting something command but configuration is no ok.
Maybe anybody have example configuration for this CMTS ?
Over it I need something software to managing CM (adding ,removing, ...) .

Does anybody know how we can block traffic between hosts behind cable modems connected to the same Arris C3 CMTS? And could we define it based on IP subnet or protocol?

Is there anyone who can tell me what the values of SNR and CNR must be to have an good signal.

And if my levels are bad, what will happen?
e.g. will my upstream drop from 16qam to qpsk, or will it yust be dead?

I now have: SNR 22.6dB and CNR 20dB. I expect thats a bit low ?

During testing, i've discovered that my US is in QPSK, although my CMTS modulation profile is:

in test setup my docsis 2.0 speeds are : DS --> 37Mbits/s and US --> 305kbits/s

DS i'm satisfied, but US is a disaster...

Anyone an idee ??

Hello DOCSIS community,

I have a strange problem on some of the Terayon Bluewave CMTSs. These boxes have been in service for a couple of years now, without major problems. I use DOCSIS2.0 modems and configurations only, I don't have any older modems. The thing that happens is, some of the CPEs cannot access the DNS servers. Here are the simptoms:

- modems register without problems
- CPEs receive their IPs and other stuff from DHCP no problem
- CPEs CAN ping anything on internet (based on IP only)
- CPEs CANNOT resolve any FQDN
