Dynamic Bandwidth Sharing and ACFE Fairness

Forums:

Hello!
Has anyone worked before with those features (DBWS and ACFE)??

I am new at this forum and I am trying to set up a Docsis 3.0/1.1 environment taking advantage of those features. Specifically what I am trying to do is to configure in a single service group all the DS channels as primary and as bonded channels as well, and share the bandwidth among them as fairly and load balanced as possible. This will allow me to get the legacy modems online as well as the 3.0 modems. Does this makes sense to you guys?

Is docsis_server a dead project ?

Forums:

I would like to know if I can still use docsis_server or the project is dead ?
https://github.com/bschirrmeister/docsis_server

Is it safe to use and/or can a server running it be updated without breaking docsis_server ?

Is there anyone that eventually can help with installation ?

Thx

:-) Jens

Question about return path in optical network

Forums:

Hello everyone, I know that this is not a "docsis" question but I hope so that you can help me about this dilemma. I'm new in one cable tv company in BiH , and we have many problems with some optical nodes that are joined together, and to time to time we have noise or modems just goes off. Problem is that for example 3 nodes have the same return path wavelength(1310nm)with fp laser and there are joined with optical spliter 1/3 (33%) ,and send back to optical receiver with one fiber.

Multicast auth on Cisco CMTSs

Forums:

Hello everyone. I am working with a uBR7225 SCG3. I work for a small MSO, we have a native IP multicast backbone that delivers multicast tv channels to traditional QAM video. We started IPTV with some of our commercial(fiber) customers and would like to expand that across our DOCSIS plant. The basic multicast stuff is pretty easy, just PIM,IGMP and multicast-routing and I was watching a 20Mbps channel. Right now I'm just using a macbook air with VLC, but later will be testing with an entone hybrid STB.

UBR10k MC-3g60 question

Forums:

All,

Going to be moving from 4 bonded downstreams to either 8 bonded downstream or a loadbalanced pair of 4 bonded downstreams, curious if others have done this and which method is preferred?

It has some design considerations which is why I am asking, if I do 8 bonded downstreams then for a fully populated card I need 72 downstreams and 27 upstreams (we put three in each service group), whereas if we do a load balanced pair of 4 bonded downstream then we need 72 downstreams and 54 upstreams. Licensing costs are about $25k different so its significant.
