Migration from old DOCSIS v1.0 CMTS to new v3.0 on same network ?

Hi!

I have a network were existing Internet is provided by a Cisco DOCSIS v1.0 CMTS owned by a different service provider.
Now I want to move all customers to my new CMTS DOCSIS v3.0
I have it configured for different channels than existing CMTS. My modems are allowed access by MAC.

What happens when I connect it to the network ? Will existing modems move to new CMTS (They will not be allowed access) ?
The other service provider is using DOCSIS v3.0 modems, and only allowed modems (MAC address) is allowed access to their network.

Will it work just to have both CMTS's connected to network ?

How do I best make the transition from old to new CMTS ? I have to give customers a new modem since other service providers modems has to be returned to them....

Any help is appreciated!

Thx!

If the old provider is not

If the old provider is not going to be offering service any longer just set everyone up in your provisioning system and pull the plug on the old CMTS. Otherwise setup the DHCP server's NOT to respond to unknown MAC address's.
