I was wondering if there's a way on reseting the modem devices in a catv network. Googling a lil got me over .1.3.6.1.2.1.69.1.1.3 ... so .. I tried doing this ... I'm the administrator of the dhcp server .. so I can create new boot files for the modems and stuff ..
snmpset -v2c -r1 -c public 10.0.0.240 .1.3.6.1.2.1.69.1.1.3 i 1
Error in packet.
Reason: notWritable (That object does not support modification)
Failed object: SNMPv2-SMI::mib-2.69.1.1.3
figured that the "public" community isn't allowed to write .. ok .. question is:
We using some DOCSIS 2.0 CMTS, Arris C3 and Terayon. The problem is, we are not limiting the UDP traffic behind the cable modem.
Example:
If we setting the max downstream speed in the cable modem configuration file 4048000 Bit/Sec when the TCP traffic is about ok. But if we try the iperf with UDP option (UDP server - UDP clients) the UDP traffic is 30MBit/Sec!
Please help me anybody, how can I limit the UDP traffic!
Hello,
Anybody experienced such transitions (bridging -> routing or routing -> bridging) for a cmts? I would like to have some impressions.
I just replaced a npe-400 with a npe-g1 and I think i can further reduce the processor load by putting the cmts in bridging mode.
For an ubr7246vxr with a npe-g1 I have about 43% processor load at peak hours.
1800 modems, speeds from (up/down) 128/512 to 256/2048.
When i startup docsis_server, it can't run, and hit
"docsis_server: error while loading shared libraries: libmysqlclient.so.10: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".
libmysqlclient library were pathed in /usr/lib/mysql/. Is path wrong?
I would like to ask somebody who has a long experience working in cable ISP. I just wanted to know some general numbers like:
- How many fiber nodes per CMTS upstream port you have connected?
- How many ports (home passed) per nodes you have connected? , and
- What kind of technology for upstream combining and splitting you are using; do you use any Return Path Multiplexer (RPM)?
I am in the process of replacing our TFTP servers. They run Linux (Fedora) and tftp-hpa. We have a bunch of Toshiba cable modems on our network (PCX1100U) and these modems can't download the config files on the new severs. All other modems can.
I have tried other tftp servers such as atftp and tftpserver. No matter what I do the Toshiba's won't download their config files. Through logging this appears to be a timeout issue. I've tried adjusting the timeout value but it doesn't make a difference.
