I have been writing a CNR extension to override my BAC installation under specific conditions for the boot-file. I was having some issues where DOCSIS 1.1 and higher modems where they are not seeing my new file that was modified on the boot-file (option 67) then I realized after debugging on a packet level that BAC is also setting "dhcp-option-overload" sub-option "file" and that is being preferred. I need to know what "$response put" statement I need to modify that sub-option. My CNR Extension is in TCL if not obvious.
Any one here set up a billing system for docsis having a bras equipment. how did it setup containing both prepaid user at non prepaid user. is there any special config for the config file. thanks in advance
I'm having problems making the Arris CM550B work on a plant with DOCSIS-only downstreams.
The downstreams have assigned standard frequencies from the NTSC channel plan, and other CMs (e.g. Scientific Atlanta, e.g. EPC2203) find the channels without any probs and do come online.
We have an isolated router with a test network of just 5 meters of coax and 3 cable modems, so it's not plant issues, etc. It's not modulations too - tried QAM64 also.
This uBR7111, when connected to hyperterminal does not produce any output data on the monitor, no sign of boot-up, and, with exception of the power LED, none of the LEDs (ethernet, upstream, downtream, etc.) on the rear of the unit illuminate. The Power Supply output is correct and runs fine.
I used to deploy dhcpd with Cisco CMTSs, nowadays I configured a new docsis_server 1.xxx in one customer, and left a existing one in another, with minor configurations made by myself.
What I have been noticing, is that when operations are running smoothly, the two seem to work equally well - with the obvious advantage that docsis_server is far much more easier to setup, update and maintain.
Attached there's a picture that i think explains what i mean with the subjet.
i want to do that over the DOCSIS, basicly is comunicate two
LAN that are behind of the CableModems.
Not provide internet to them just comunication between them.
I made a post earlier, but I think that I was not very detailed about it.
So, this time i did a draw of a DOCSIS enviroment from point to point.
to give better explain this time.
I wonder if someone can tell me if this is possible using dhcpd.conf and a mainstream CMTS...
I have a standard cable modem setup running with trialists provisioned via dhcpd.conf. That works well.
Now, I'd like all clients (PC's) that are connecting via a specified cable modem to be treated differently. (I'd like those clients to get a different range of IP addresses and DNS info, and be redirected to a "login" server for authentication).
So, is it possible within dhcpd.conf to identify these clients (based on the mac address of their modem) and treat them differently?
