We have a Cisco 7246VXR with an MC-28U card. So far, we have only been using a single downstream with multiple upstreams (based on the fiber-node it's coming from). We are now looking to implement load-balancing, primarily on the downstream side. I think I have the configuration side down, but the physical layout is something I need assistance with. Do we just drop a 2 way splitter and put US0 of each DS on the same splitter, or can we leave out current setup alone with just adding the second downstream to the mix?
I need to know if there is any possibility to restrict users from connecting their router after the cable modem and then distribute the service?
They have to connect only PC not routers.
Ive got a docsis_server 3.5 setup running on Debian, and I'm having issues with modems not getting any ip addresses. Sys_log is hinting at a subnet or giaddress issue, but i have it set, as far as I can tell, to what it is expecting.

Is it possible to create a config file with lets say maxcpe 4 modems, and set it to be the first given IP a public IP, and the next 3 IP's a private IP's?
I haven't found much information on this so far, I was wondering if it was possible to setup a static Internet IP address to a CPE directly into a specific CM configfile?
1. As we know, CMTS uses Downstream to send packets to CM. How does the single instance of packet sends to multiple CM. At which place these packets get duplicated.
2. Also how does the specific packets (channel) are served to some CM. (eg paid channel, on demand TV), Since Downstream will send the packets to all CM.
I'm playing around with an UBR10k (ubr10k4-k9p6u2-mz.122-33.SCF3.bin). I wonder if anyone knows what are the RCP IDs that this brand of CMTS support without any additional RCC configuration???
What I specifically want to know when should I write an RCC template and when to expect tha default RCP IDs to work.
The Arris cable modems has what they refer to as "smart download" for their firmware updates, where the device will just download the differences between it's current firmware and the required firmware update.
Are some tftp-hpa specific options in it's configuration to support this feature?
I have a arris mta tmg-602a with disabled phone and noticed consumption in downstream rf interface even with no ethernet cable connected (see attached file). is that consumption is real? will be some error in my monitoring software?
