ubr10k , mc20x20 and rfgw combined question

Hi all

I have a ubr10k with 3x MC20x20 cards .

Currently for docsis 3.0 modems in DS and i have config with bonded up to 8 channels . Goal is to add 4 channels more to configuration but i want to done that with RFGW1
I would add WB SPA card into ubr10k , and connect it to rfgw1 .

Does anyone done that ? How to bond 4 or 8 DS channels from mc20x20 with 4 channels on rfgw1 ?

Thaks a lot .

You cannot

You cannot bond remote channels with native channels. Not even with the new 3gSpa from Cisco.

Hello,

Hello,
remember if you use DTI server, you can set primary downstream to your DS from RFGW1 (wideband SPA Card) and if you don't have DTI Server, you only can generated non-primary DS to your DS.

Unfortunately, you can't bond it because it has the hardware limitation. DS from LC can't be an one Wideband interface with Modular-cable.
You only can use the primary downstream from LC as timing and use the RFGW1 DS as non-primary DS

Hi hikaze

As I understood, is it possible to create WB channels from a RFGW1 without using a DTI??? Am I right?

I'll appreciate your response.

I believe you need a DTI to

I believe you need a DTI to be able to use RFGW1, otherwise, the timing would be off between the local card and the RFGW1.

Someone, please correct if I am wrong though.

Hi

Hi jbarbieri, I have done some tests. There is no need of a DTI if you want to use your RFGW channels just as WB channels (non-primary channels). It works fine and it is easy to configure.

You will only need a DTI if you want your RFGW to produce primary-channels.

You will need DTI for that.

You will need DTI for that.

A common design with MC20x20V

A common design with MC20x20V is to have 4 service areas (MAC domains), with 4 x primary DS per service area. And then "span" the card's remaining 4 DS over those 4 service areas (non-primary).

This allows you to make 4X and 8X bonding groups in each of the 4 service areas.

12 DS bonding group ? With

12 DS bonding group ? With MC2020 and SPA it's easy.

It really depnds of you HFC architecture.
For example you could mix 3 RF ports from MC2020( 4DS per RF port) and bond them into one 12DS bonding group. Then form SPA-HD add next 12 DS to next cable domian on MC2020 card.

You have to remmeber that MC2020 arch. is diffrent than MC520 card. On MC2020 you have 5 MAC domian and 5 RF controllers that cab be connect as you need.

You cannot mix wideband ds form diffrent CARDS. DS Wideband interface MIX is possible only on one card ( SPA-HD, MC2020,MC3G60) with DBS.

Hi All

I have tested a WBSPA with an APEX1000 and a RFGW1. It is not necessary having a DTI if you are gonna use the channels from the RFGW1 just as WB channels. You'll only need a DTI if you use at least one of the channels from the RFGW1 as a primary channel.
