nat in the cmts ubr10k

Hi

as anyone setup NAT directly in a ubr10k CMTS ?

we are looking at this to lower public ipv4 utilization

I saw some posts saying it uses a lot of cpu so it could not be done to a large number of cpe

But it did not state exactly how much cpu it use and how many cpe could be in the NAT.

thanks for your feedback

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Hi Patrick,
I'm not sure about NAT in ubr10k but you probably should look into some CGN-box ( such as F5 Big IP ) which have the proper proxies/ALG's to get services working smoothly for customers. This is everything from SIP to gaming these days.

If you are doing this for few customers only, it might be cheaper to just buy more IP's on the grey market.

Hi
thanks for the reply

I know there are other solutions but I would really like to know if someone tried it with a ubr10k and if this is viable.

We know it can work but for how many customers ? that is the question
