Arris MTA not getting the DHCP offer?

Can someone tell me if an Arris MTA (TM502G to be specific) will show the DHCP Offer in logging even if the offer is incorrect and the MTA won't accept it?

I have no problems assigning an IP to the modem and getting it online but, the MTA won't go online. I've confirmed the DHCP Discover and Offer via packet capture at the DNS server and on the CMTS. At this point, I don't see the Offer showing in the MTA's DHCP log though all four DHCP transactions for the modem show in that log.

I can post DNS, modem and CMTS configs if needed as well as the packet captures of the DHCP transactions but for now, I just need to establish whether the MTA will log the DHCP offer whether valid or invalid.

Thanks

The offer will not show in

The offer will not show in the logs unless it is accepted. There are several reasons why it may not be accepted but the most common are:

Does not originate from the the dhcp server defined in 122.1 or 122.2. The offer must come from the same IP that was configured in option 122.1 or 122.2

Missing Options the MTA will reject an offer if it does not have all requested options

No FQDN

check out the documentation or give arris support a call to log into the mta via telnet and turn dhcp reporting on, this will tell you why it is rejecting the offer.

Arris provisioning info

Perhaps compare your DHCP config against this Arris provisioning info I typed up recently

resolved a while back

It turns out that the issue was with the DHCP offer to the MTA. I was offering two IP's for logging servers but the MTA would only accept the DHCP offer with a single logging server specified.
Wow, those things are PICKY!
