Seems I'm just making one giant "LAN" as I add more and more cable users behind my 1000 or 1500. Does anyone know how to separate cable modems from others behind the Arris? Perhaps VLANs?
I've been trying to dabble into the capabilities of docsis, but it's difficult to be sure. Seems VLAN's are a feature of docsis but I do not know which version nor how to code it for the docsis 0.95 compiler.
Could it be possible to tunnel VLAN's across the CMTS to single out a CM? I could use a CM as a backbone for other networks such as a wireless AP, or group neighbourhoods to direct them to various PPPoE servers on the ISP side. Would there even be a ponit? In an ATM network I can see that being pointless. Don't know if that's true for a Cable network. Seems to be lots of noise out there on the wire due to it being a single network.
Any similar suggestions?

There are actually two ways of doing this; first - use "funnel-mode" in CMTS CLI or second - use IP filters inside modem file
Hi !
I dont know if someone could help me with a configuration file for docsis 1.1 with snmp enabled for any type of modem (motorola or arris).
Thanks
