BSR64000 - No more than 1 Cable Modem for the same VLAN

Hi

I am having issue in BSR64000 for modems that i have configured a file in VLAN.

Only one modem per the same Vlan ID its permited .

Index PID IP Address/Mask PRI/CFI/VLAN TP BEN EN PT TOS VRF EIID/IIID ILID SchedSlot TIDV TID
------ --------- ------------------- ------------ -- --- -- -- --- ------ -------------- ----- --------- ---- ---
16631 gig 8/5 0.0.0.0/0 0/ 0/ 100 0 1 0 0 0 cab 0/0 119 5 1 251
16632 gig 8/5 0.0.0.0/0 0/ 0/ 200 0 1 0 0 0 cab 0/0 119 5 1 246

Below are is the log
...
W-BRGTAG.17 Modem with mac address aaaa.bbbb.cccc tried to register with a vlanId that is already assigned to modem with mac address dddd.eeee.ffff
...

Is there a way to make it possible that more than one modem be registered in the same vlan ?

CASA Systems allows it with no problem.

workaround

I ran into this or had to do it a different way, back in the 5.3 code. each modem has it's own vlan. on a switch, next hop join vlans that way.
haven't done modem vlans since then, but know this works. you can put the modem on a vlan via the modem file as well as cli

First i want to thank you for your reply,
It seems that this kind of solution was thought for small numbers of clients using VLAN.
If you have like 100 clients that uses different VLAN ID's , just reserving 40 different vlans for the same client that means 40 modems logged in the CMTS, multiplying it for the 100 VLAN ID's, gives you a number of 4000 vlans being reserved on CMTS.
Totally unmanageable

Thanks a lot anyway.
