BSR64000

I'm working with 2x8 cards on a BSR64000

Would like some confirmation if anyone can offer it for the RX48 cards.

Is it possible to have multiple logical carriers on a single interface?
Is it possible to shut down a physical port to give its logical ports to another physical port thus adding room for more carriers?
Is upstream bonding doable with the RX48?

Is there any limitation for downstream channels?

Can anyone who runs a BSR64000 offer some examples of configuration for doing this?

Much appreciated.

Thanks!

downstream depends on software version. you need 6.x and higher to run the rx48. depending on hardware rev and software rev each downstream port can be 4 channels or 8. you can combine two 4 channel ports to get 8 channels as well

info

Here's an example for an rx48 port below. it's per port, you can't use it's logical port on another port. it has more than enough ports you would need. it all depends on the software version your running that would limit ports uses. example 7.x code uses licenses for ports that can be no shut while 6.x doesn't use licenses and allows all ports to be used. software and hardware also comes into play in regards to downstream. each port can have 4 or 8 channels and support 4,8,16,24 channel bonding

cable upstream port 2/6
cable upstream physical-delay automatic
cable upstream 0 channel-width 6400000
cable upstream 0 frequency 17400000
cable upstream 0 map-interval 2000

Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the reply.

Would you happen to be familiar with the 2x8 card for the BSR64k? Looking at the configuration, the suggestion is that these cards SHOULD be able to do logical upstreams, but that appears to be not the case given multiple attempts.

Just noticed something I hadn't noticed before though. (I'm new to the BSR).
There's an interface cable 0/0 and an interface cable 0/1. 0/0 has all 8 upstreams attached. 0/1 is shut down and has:
interface cable 0/1
shutdown
cable bind downstream 1
cable downstream 1 interleave-depth 8
cable downstream 1 shutdown
cable dynamic-service authorization-mode disable

Do you know of a 2x8 config that allows for more than one upstream to a downstream bonding group?
Thanks!

use of equipment

Hi JMH
are you trying to setup for use on a live system with customers or a way to test in a lab?

JMH
Sorry for the late reply,

Sorry for the late reply, been very busy.

Was wanting to do a test system before moving over to live on the 2x8 card with multiple upstreams.

Have not figured out a way to do it.

sh tech

would need a show tech to get info on the current utilization, snr, cards, etc. but it would be too big to attach.
what's your email address?
