Hi,
I am trying to do an Image upgrade for a DOCSIS 1.1 Cable modem, I have set the following information in the config file for the cable modem to download the new image after reboot.
TFTP Server 10.1.1.1
Software FileName : sfot_189.img
After rebooting the modem the cable modem downloads the config file and comes online , but fails to download the firmware mentioned in the config file , instead it trows the following error.
Configuration File CVC Validation Failure.
Can someone help me sorting out this firmware upgrade issue.

FIRMWARE UPGRADE - CVC VALIDATION FAILURE
I already try with tlv 38, without any luck to reflash my 550a to 550b.

I'll tell again. Use VSIF TLV38.

What firmware are you trying to upload, I was able to upload a new firmware to ours c550A, but when I try to change to eurodocsis. I am having the same errors. After talk with the arris people, they say is because the 550a is incompatible with the firmware for the 550b. May be could be your problem ?
FIRMWARE UPGRADE - CVC VALIDATION FAILURE
I have got the correct CVC from the manufacturer but still it shows the same error.
Can i bypass the CVC validation before image download
FIRMWARE UPGRADE - CVC VALIDATION FAILURE
Use VendorSpecific and inside parenthesis put GenericTLV TlvCode 38 TlvLength 1 TlvValue 0x01 - actual syntax depands on Your Docsis compiler.
FIRMWARE UPGRADE - CVC VALIDATION FAILURE
Hello Prasad,
You are getting this error because the CM verifies the MFG CVC before it starts to download the upgrade image on to it. In your case either the MFG CVC tlv is missing in the config file or an improper MFG CVC is added into the CM config file.
You can do the following:
1) Get the correct MFG CVC for your CM. This CVC is given by the DOCSIS root CA and is manufacturer specific. IN your case for the test purpose there will be some CVC used by your CM.
2) Once you have the correct CVC file, the CM can validate it and upgrade the firmware on the modem.
Thanks
Pradeep
adding the cvc to the firmware
If you have the CVC how could you sign/add it to the firmware?
FIRMWARE UPGRADE - CVC VALIDATION FAILURE
Thanks for the reply,
Could you please provide the steps for disabling the CVC, I havent used this feature earlier.
FIRMWARE UPGRADE - CVC VALIDATION FAILURE
Maybe U can use TLV38 to disable cvc validation.

Hello prasad,
you need the certification from the manufactor of the cable modem. This CVC must be in into the configfile.
Which cable modem are you using?
